Summerside is a city located in Prince County on Prince Edward Island. This is the second-largest community in the province. It was incorporated as a town in 1877 and was incorporated as a city in 1995. During that time, several other communities were amalgamated into Summerside including St. Eleanors and Wilmot.
The biggest employer in the city is Summerside Tax Centre, which is part of the Canadian government. Aerospace is also important to the community. Some of the aerospace companies operating at Slemon Park include Testori Americas, Honeywell, and Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic. Agriculture remains important to Summerside, as it does to the rest of Prince Edward Island.
