Steinbach is the third-largest city in Manitoba with a population of just under 18,000 people. The community was established in 1874, incorporated as a town in 1946, and became a city in 1997. The city is growing and has had a population boom of 11% from 2016 to 2021. Many people have opted to look for Steinbach real estate as an affordable place to live.

Although Steinbach might be a small town, it still offers a lot for residents and tourists. The Steinbach Aquatic Centre features pools, water slides, a lazy river, and play areas for the kids. It is a great place to head to on a hot Manitoban summer’s day.

From September to April, you can visit the T.G. Smith Centre. It features two indoor ice surfaces and one outdoor surface for skating. Or, visit the Mennonite Heritage Village to see a large collection of original Mennonite buildings, along with a museum featuring more than 16,000 artifacts.
You can catch movies at the Keystone Cinema or walk around A.D. Penner Park for some fresh air. Other parks in the town include K.R. Barkman Park, Soccer Park, and Steinbach Skate Park.

Getting Around in Steinbach

Two main highways come past Steinbach—Provincial Trunk Highways 12 and 52. There are no railways or rivers through the town. Steinbach does have an airport, but it is small and doesn’t offer commercial flights. Those who need to take a longer flight will need to travel to nearby Winnipeg to reach the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

You won’t find much public transportation in Steinbach, as it is a small town that is relatively easy to get around. Most people in the city have their own cars or trucks, and some locations may be within walking distance.
