Montague is a vibrant community that has now become part of the larger Three Rivers area, located in Kings County on beautiful Prince Edward Island. With amalgamation with Georgetown and rural municipalities taking place recently in 2018, Montague's population still stands as the largest centre at nearly 1,900 people. Montague is essentially a regional service centre for this part of the province, and as such, it has a range of businesses. Some of these include car dealerships, fast food eateries, banks, supermarkets, and hardware stores. A lot of people come into Montague from nearby communities to pick up what they need. It is also home to Kings County Memorial Hospital.
What You Can See and Do in Montague
Just because it has a population of under 2,000 people doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a lot to offer residents in terms of activities and attractions. The proximity of the water means there are plenty of opportunities in the area for fishing, boating, swimming, and more.
You could head to Artisans Waterfront, a local art gallery, and then take a walk along the water. You will also want to check out the Garden of the Gulf Museum, the oldest museum in the province. It has curated exhibits that explore the history of Three Rivers.
Residents will find plenty of places to shop and dine in Montague, too. Some of the stores in the area include The Turning Point Health Food Store, My Sister’s Closet, Sobeys Montague, and Pigeon’s Gift Shop. As for places to eat, there is McDonald’s, Pizza Delight, Tim Hortons, Subway, and Dynasty.
As you can see, Montague has everything you will need and then some. It is a great place to live if you crave a smaller community.

It is home to Montague Consolidated School and Montague Regional High School. It also features parks including Clay Park, Rotary Children’s Park, and the Laura Lee Crawford Walsh Memorial Park.
